The alarm went off at 3:30 am. Two hours later Gordon and I were spinning from Spur Cross to check out the condition of Trail 4 towards Seven Springs. We made it about 7 miles out from where we parked.
Bumping and scratching was how this trail flowed.
Notice Gordon off camber in many of the photos - the result of surfing babyhead sized rocks all over sections of the the trail.
Some sections were overgrown.
We were scratched and poked.
We still fared better than other trail users.
Shortly after this sign things got too hike-a-bikey and we ditched the bikes to hike a short distance.
Good thing too.
It was easily 15-20 degrees cooler in the shade.
The new filter worked fine and the water was tasty.
Time to head back.
